Customer Review: Great for pregnancy and recovery from C-section
I’ve been meaning to write this for 6+ months because I am so grateful for this DVD. I did this program 2-3x a week starting second trimester before my son was born (I was too nauseaus during 1st trimester to do anything). I credit it for my fast, good recovery from my C-section. Yes, it is long. But it is worth it - particularly the leg lunges. And 2-3x a week seemed to be enough. (and my son was born early so I did not do it all 3rd tri). My legs were strong enough to get me out of bed relatively easily. And, particularly because of the leg lunge work, I knew how to lift myself and my baby using my (now stronger) legs and not my back or my tender abdomen. Jennifer is easy to follow, and they have a good demonstration for all 3 trimesters at the same time (though the 2nd tri person doesn’t look 2nd tri!) This is not a dripping sweat DVD, and I am not an avid exercises or pilates person (Pilates for Dummies was enough for me pre-pregnancy, which I have also reviewed). But this was a good, basic work out, it made me feel good during pregnancy, and gave me the tone to have a good recovery afterwards (alas, I bought, but have not tried her C-section recovery DVD - not enough time as a stay at home Mom! I’m going back to Pilates for Dummies at home because it is shorter). I only wish the Amazon posting had warned me before purchase that I needed a ball, a stool, a pole, and some weights. But I made do with a rolled up towel for a ball, a paint brush extension rod (the one you screw the brush into) and a small step stool (I already had 2 lbs weights, but you can use books or something like that).
Customer Review: Not worth the time or money
I have done this video once and will not do it again. It is indeed slow-paced and boring. I did not find Jennifer to be a good instructor. She doesn’t explain the moves as she does them, hence you are having to constantly look at the tv rather than keep proper form and actually do the exercises correctly. It all seems to be inconsistent, and per the previous review, the left/right and counting is off. She also does not give many reminders to keep proper form, which for me is a biggie, as I tend to forget pretty easily. Because of this, my back was sore afterwards.
Prepregnancy I was fit, and have been working out at the gym, so those who are not may get a little more out of this low-key workout, but some of the exercises will be impossible for you to do. Learn More / Buy Now
